Clemson student-athletes record impressive spring GPA




CLEMSON, SC — Clemson University student-athletes earned a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester of 2022, the eighth consecutive semester above 3.0 and the second highest on record. This is the first semester in which the cumulative GPA includes graduating student-athletes.

General Academic Notes:

Clemson’s 411 undergraduate student-athletes scored 3.18 and 38 graduate students scored 3.52.

321 student-athletes scored 3.0 or higher and 73 individuals scored 4.0.

Twelve of the fifteen programs earned a cumulative rating of 3.0 or higher, and seven women’s programs earned ratings of 3.30 or higher.

Team Academic Ratings:



Women’s soccer recorded its 43rd straight streak above 3.0, the longest streak in the department, and led all programs with a team-best 3.65 GPA.

Softball earned a combined GPA of 3.38 (graduate and undergraduate) while moving to an NCAA regional super.

Every member of the volleyball program scored 3.0 or higher, while men’s golf, women’s soccer and women’s tennis each had over 90% of their female student-athletes score 3.0 or higher.

Men’s golf set a program record with a 3.47 GPA among undergraduates (3.36 overall).

The men’s soccer program had a GPA of 3.28 the semester after winning the national championship and had 16 consecutive semesters at 3.0 or higher. Clemson student-athletes record an impressive spring GPA.

The football team set a combined rating of 3.11, the highest in program history, and 81 student-athletes scored 3.0 or higher.

Women’s golf has recorded a 3.3 GPA, hitting at least a 3.0 mark in the 18 seasons since joining in the fall of 2013.

Rowing had its 25th consecutive semester above a 3.0 and has recorded a 3.0 or better in 47 of 48 semesters since joining in the fall of 1998.

Clemson student-athletes have had a graduation pass rate of 91% or better for seven consecutive cohorts, including a program record of 95% in the 2021 release.
