Ghaziabad Class 8 student dies by suicide, father says school harassed over fees

The child felt insulted and hung himself after returning from school, police said

A Grade 8 student in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh allegedly hanged himself in his bedroom with his father, claiming his son took the plunge after being bullied at school for not paying his fees, it has been reported Thursday the police.

The student’s father has filed a complaint against the school administration alleging that his son was harassed and not allowed to attend classes for failing to pay his tuition fees, police added.

The child felt insulted and hung himself after returning from school, Circle Officer (2nd Town) Alok Dubey said, citing the complaint.

During questioning, the school administration said that the pupil and his classmate had had a tiff, for which their parents had been called. As the father of the other students arrived at school, the student who later died did not notify his parents. On Thursday, he was told to call his father or else he would not be allowed to attend classes, police said.

He may have committed suicide because of it, the school administration told police.

The matter is being investigated and action will be taken against any wandering school staff if found guilty, Circle officer Dubey said.
