Nebraska student-athletes shone in spring semester

University of Nebraska student-athletes excelled in the classroom during the spring 2022 semester. Post-spring, the GPA of all Husker student-athletes was 3.338, the second highest mark since the calculations were first recorded in 1992-1993.

Five programs posted their highest cumulative spring semester GPAs in their sport’s history. The women’s cross country team led the way with a 3.716 GPA, followed closely by the women’s track and field team with a 3.634 GPA. The men’s cross country team posted its highest GPA with a 3.564, while softball had a GPA of 3.595 and men’s tennis posted a 3.478 rating.

In addition to team-record GPAs, 392 Husker student-athletes have been named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for achieving a spring semester GPA of 3,000 or higher. This group included 56 student-athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester.

For the 2021-22 season, 108 Nebraska student-athletes were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for achieving a CGPA of 3,700 or higher during the college term. Nebraska also increased its national total to 348 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans after pitcher Alex Talley was named to the second-team Academic All-American in June.

In addition to the accolades, 81 Husker student-athletes graduated from the May 2022 launch ceremonies, contributing to Nebraska’s record graduation rate of 95%.
