SAVANNAH – Tristen Ingram, an air conditioning technology student at Savannah Technical College, has been awarded the Trane Technician of the Future Scholarship (2022) from Trane by Trane Technologies. He is one of 28 students in North America seeking a technical education as they prepare to enter the field of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) or building automation.
Ingram began his career at Savannah Tech as a dual enrollment student. He completed 24 hours of basic general education online before graduating last spring from South Effingham High School. This semester, he enrolled as a full-time HVAC student at the Savannah campus. He also completes a 14-hour-a-week internship with Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in the maintenance department.
“Congratulations to this year’s Trane Technician of the Future Fellows,” said Donny Simmons, president, Commercial HVAC Americas, Trane Technologies. “We are proud to help these 28 aspiring technicians launch successful careers in the HVAC and building controls industry. This scholarship program is one of the ways Trane helps train the next generation of HVAC technicians and operators who will make important contributions to the industry in years to come.
Recipients were selected from a group of finalists based on their academic performance, leadership and participation, long-term career and educational goals, financial need and other criteria. As a full-time student, Ingram will receive $4,000, which can be used for education-related expenses.
