The vision of the Department of Student Management and Alternative Programs is to promote a safe and nurturing educational environment where all students, K-12 and adult learners, have the opportunity to reach their full potential – academically, socially and emotionally using multiple options within the system to receive the appropriate services to succeed.
The mission of the Department of Student Management and Alternative Programs is to provide a variety of educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students, K-12 and adult learners, through choices of non-traditional education. This will be accomplished by:
Provide a continuum of services for K-12 students and adult learners that includes both self-selected choice options and educational opportunities offered due to disciplinary issues;
Understand that not all students learn in the same way or at the same time;
Partner with schools, home and community to meet the differing needs of the whole student;
Advocate for a safe and nurturing environment for all students by creating non-traditional educational opportunities that enable learning free from violence, conflict, and unnecessary disruption; and
Continue to examine the changing needs of students and adjust non-traditional educational opportunities as needed to meet their needs.
Objectives of the Department of Student Management and Alternative Programs
Provide a variety of educational opportunities that meet the varied needs of K-12 students and adult learners;
Promote a safe educational environment that is conducive to teaching and learning and free from violence, conflict and unnecessary disruption; and
