Taft, CA – Taft College has announced the completion of its new student center.
The public is invited to the Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony which will take place Wednesday, August 25 at 1 p.m. on the South Terrace, easily accessible from Wildcat Way.
Refreshments will be served and guided tours of the 21,000 square foot facility will be offered.
67 Masks will be required and provided, as needed.
Contractor Columbo Construction Company has finalized all final details so that the college can welcome students to campus in time for fall classes in person, including access to the new student center, starting August 23.
“Our state-of-the-art facility was well worth the wait! We will provide our students and the entire community with a game-changing campus experience, ”said Superintendent / President Dr. Debra S. Daniels. “Additionally, this new building will be a critical part of our plans for Taft College’s centennial celebratory events. in 2022.
New student center facilities include a 4,740 square foot student lounge and play area, a 600 square foot area designated for the Associated Student Organization (ASO) offices, a 3,160 square foot bookstore, a printing house and mailroom, a 3,660 square foot cafeteria and dining room serving a maximum of 244 people, a cafeteria, a kitchen and a food service area of 3,360 square feet, a dining / dining room 400 square foot staff meeting as well as 180 square feet for the Campus Security office. Taft College Bookstore has moved from 515 Finley Drive to Taft.
The $ 17 million cost of the highly anticipated Taft College Student Center project was funded with all remaining funds from Measure A from 2004.
