TSTC student ready to enter the field of powerline workers | Community

ROSENBERG —Darwin Henriquez is pursuing a certificate of completion in the Power Lineman and Management Technology program at the Fort Bend County campus of Texas State Technical College. He is due to graduate in December.

Henriquez, of Missouri City, graduated from Hightower High School.

How did you become interested in TSTC and your study program?

I was interested in TSTC because of the Powerline Technician and Management Technology program. I like the idea of working on power lines and being able to have an impact and help the community during storms and emergencies. I have family who have gone through this program and who work there, and they convinced me. I have seen the benefits of this program where it could impact our lives.

How was the first semester for you?

Everything was new to me in the first semester. Going up is a little scary at first, but once up there (at the top of the pole) it becomes second nature. Once you’re working, you’re not concerned with height, but with getting the job done.
